This stainless steel bit has a double jointed mouthpiece and a hanging cheek, and because it is made of stainless steel, it is designed never to rust, bend or break. The French link was developed to lie in more of a curve than its jointed counterparts and it is therefore better suited to the shape of the horse's mouth. By allowing the horse to move it gently with his tongue, it reduces the amount of tongue pressure associated with the jointed mouths and encourages the horse to accept the bit. The hanging cheek exerts a degree of poll pressure which encourages the horse to lower its head. The top ring attaches to the cheek pieces of the bridle and the larger ring to the reins. This is a very useful bit for the horse with a high head carriage. This bit is permissible for dressage when used with a snaffle bridle or with a double bridle, on the bridoon rein.
