Mikmar bits were designed and patented by the late Frank Evans, a highly regarded USA Equestrian judge. He spent a lifetime perfecting his bits to provide effective results, without abuse to the horse. They are designed to encourage vertical and lateral flexion, proper balance and carriage and a soft-fresh mouth.
The Mikmar slanted mouthpiece positions their bits with swept back shanks, resulting in less leverage than the standard mouthpiece. Still very effective, this mouthpiece option is more forgiving.
