Mikmar bits were designed and patented by the late Frank Evans, a highly regarded USA Equestrian judge. He spent a lifetime perfecting his bits to provide effective results, without abuse to the horse. They are designed to encourage vertical and lateral flexion, proper balance and carriage and a soft-fresh mouth. The Mikmar Pelham incorporates the traditional Pelham cheek piece with the unique lightweight Mikmar mouthpiece. This bit operates through both direct action and leverage, using a curb chain. Can be used with double reins or with rein connectors and therefore a single rein.
