1. Internal Sales Staff

Permanent sales staff position. The successful applicant will form part of our inhouse sales team and can look forward to working in a vibrant and enjoyable equestrian orientated environment. The applicant will report directly to the JHB Shop Manager and daily tasks will include assisting in the everyday running of the shop, serving clients and handling customer queries. The position is ideally suited to an outgoing, mature and realiable applicant with good administrative , communication and people skills. 2. Casual Sales Staff

The successful applicant will form part of our inhouse sales team and can look forward to working in a vibrant and enjoyable equestrian orientated environment. The applicant will report directly to the JHB Shop Manager and tasks will include serving clients and handling customer queries. The position is ideally suited to an outgoing, mature and reliable applicant with good administrative , communication and people skills. Equestrian knowledge is essential and previous sales experience will be beneficial. Applicants must be willing to work at least two weekends a month and on public holidays. 3. Graphic Designer

The Marketing & Design Department is in need of a full-time graphic designer to be based at the Head Office premises in Fourways. 2-3 years experience required, relevant tertiary education and strong portfolio.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Precise deadline management 
  • Logowork & corporate identity 
  • Packaging Design 
  • Print media 
  • Catalogues & brochures 
  • Digital Design including email design and social

Requirements / Attributes:

Cape Town

1. Sales Representative

The above position will become available on 1 March 2019.

Key Performance Areas: 

The sales representative will report to the branch manager of Cape Town and will be accountable for the following:

  • External and internal sales

  • Stock control of vehicle 
  • Saddle fitting (training will be provided ) – to this purpose the candidate must be able to analyse the conformation and soundness of a horse 
  • Working in store and on site at equestrian facilities

Port Elizabeth

1. Branch Manager

The above position will become available on 1 May 2019.

The Port Elizabeth branch is an established branch of Western Shoppe, serving the diverse and in places, thinly spread equestrian community of the Eastern Cape. The branch trades 6 days per week and on most Public Holidays.

Closing time and date for applications is 16h00 on 19 April 2019. No late applications will be considered.

Internal candidates who do not meet all the requirements currently are welcome to apply, but such applications may be rejected at the sole discretion of the Directors. Should such a candidate (not meeting all the requirements) be successful through the interview process, the appointment will be in an “Acting Branch Manager” capacity until the identified skills gap has been corrected (within an agreed time period). Should the skills gap not be corrected within the agreed time period, the successful candidate may be required to return to his/her previous position within the Company.

Key Performance Areas: 

The Branch Manager is responsible for the general day to day management of the branch, and will be required to lead and direct the team at the branch to ensure that the Branch remains the leading supplier of equestrian product in the listed above. Reporting to the Company CEO, the Branch Manager is accountable for the following:

  • Marketing, sales and customer relations in the region 
  • Ensuring that the product mix selected for the branch is appropriate for the needs of the region, and that the quantities required for the branch have been correctly allocated 
  • The merchandising, layout, housekeeping and security at the branch 
  • Carefully selecting and training staff, so that product knowledge is of the highest order 
  • Leading and motivating staff, to ensure high levels of productivity and customer service 
  • Financial budgeting, monitoring and control 
  • Inventory management at the branch 
  • Adhering to all Company SOP’s and administration processes 

Requirements / Attributes:

  • A valid Matric (Grade 12) certificate 
  • A valid light motor vehicle Drivers License 
  • A working knowledge of the equestrian sector 
  • Minimum 3 years retail sector experience 
  • Computer literate, including basic Excel, Word and Outlook skills 
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans (written and spoken)
